Devin Schmidt, a junior guard on the Delta State Men's Basketball team, captures his second CableONE GoStatesmen.com Male Student-Athlete of the Week honor after leading the Statesmen (10-3, 5-2 GSC) to a 97-74 victory over the University of North Alabama on Saturday, Jan. 2 at Walter Sillers Coliseum.
The 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Seiverville, Tenn., scored a game-high 34 points with four rebounds and four assists to pace the Statesmen. It was his fourth 30-plus point game of the season. Schmidt finished the night 10-of-22 from the floor while connecting on 5-of-10 3-point attempts and 9-of-10 from the free throw line.
He is currently second in the Gulf South Conference in scoring per game (24.3 ppg) and leads the league with 3.7 made 3-pointers per contest.
