Alondrea Rush, a freshman point guard on the Delta State women's basketball team, captures her first career CableONE/GoStatesmen.com Female Student-Athlete of the Week award after leading the No. 22 Lady Statesmen to a pair of victories in Gulf South Conference play last week.
The Horn Lake, Miss., native led DSU to a 62-45 victory over West Alabama on Thursday after scoring seven points and dishing out three assists at Walter Sillers Coliseum.
The former Horn Lake High School standout followed up that performance with a career-high 17 points, four rebounds and four assist performance in a 60-49 win over West Georgia on Saturday, Jan. 23.Â
Rush, a true freshman who is averaging 6.6 points and 3.0 assists per game, will lead the Lady Statesmen into a pair of key road games this week, as Delta State travels to Union on Thursday and Christian Brothers on Saturday.
