Melanie Tombers, a junior on the Delta State women's swimming & diving team, earns the CableONE Female Student-Athlete of the Week honor after leading the Lady Statesmen to a 10th place finish at the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championships this past week in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Dusseldorf, Germany native scored 41 points to help the Lady Statesmen earn their second-best finish (10th) in program history. Tombers now has 13 All-American honors in her career.
She placed sixth in the 400-IM, fifth in the 1650-Freestyle (2nd straight year), 15th in the 800-Free relay, and sixth in the 200-Breaststroke on the same night as the mile.Â
