Dalton Moats, a 6-foot-3 left-handed pitcher on the Delta State University baseball team, captures his first CableONE Male Student-Athlete of the Week honor after leading the No. 29 Statesmen (20-9, 13-5 GSC) to a 6-2 victory in Sunday's series finale at the University of North Alabama. The win completed a three-game sweep of the Lions and pushed the Statesmen into second place in the league standings.
The Kansas City, Mo., native turned in one of his best performances to date as a Statesman, striking out a career-high 12 batters while allowing two runs on six hits in the complete game victory at Mike Lane Field.
Moats (5-2) earned fourth straight victory with the win and marked the fourth consecutive outing with at least nine strikeouts in a game. He currently leads the GSC with 61 strikeouts on the season. Â
