Catherine Thomson, a senior midfielder on the Delta State women’s soccer team, is this week’s Cable One GoStatesmen.com Female Student-Athlete of the Week after tying the school record for most goals in a season on Sept. 13 against Alcorn State.  

A native of Banchory, Scotland, Thomson is the third Lady Statesman in program history to score a hat trick. She scored a hat trick in just the first half of the game against Alcorn State to tie the record for most goals in a season and lift the Lady Statesmen past the Lady Braves 11-1 in what was the highest-scoring contest of the season. The 11 goals against Alcorn tied the school record for most goals in a game.

Thomson scored her fifth goal of the season against Mississippi College on Sept. 18 and currently leads the team in goals.  

Thomson and the Lady Statesmen will be back in action Friday, Sept. 23 for the 2016 GSC home opener against Christian Brothers University.
