Mari Alex Sandridge, a freshman pitcher and outfielder for the Delta State softball team, has been named CableOne Gostatesmen.com Female Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
 
Sandridge drove in a career-high five RBIs in Delta State’s 13-2 victory over Christian Brothers. In the circle, she struck out a career-high nine batters in game two of the series to earn her third win of the season and recorded her first career save en route to Delta State’s 8-2 win in game three.  
 
Sandridge recorded her fourth home run of the season this past weekend to take the lead. Sandridge is second on the team in runs scored (20) and RBIs (19). She leads the Lady Statesmen pitching staff in strikeouts, having struck out 42 batters. She holds opponents to a team-low .218 batting average and boasts the fourth lowest ERA in the GSC (1.88).
 
DSU will travel to Auburn University at Montgomery for a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 5, at 2 p.m. The Lady Statesmen will host Shorter University, for a three-game series on Go Green Weekend at University Field beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 8, at 2 p.m. and concluding with a single game on Sunday, April 9, at 1 p.m.
