Delta State University linebacker Ovenson Cledanord has been named CableOne Gostatesmen.com Male Athlete of the Week for his performance against Chowan.
 
Cledanord was recognized as the Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week, earning the honor after racking up 5.5 tackles, four sacks and a pair of forced fumbles in DSU's 42-13 win over Chowan.
 
The four sacks in a game are tied for second in school history with Demetric Armistead, who had four against Mississippi Valley State on Sept. 9, 2000.
 
The Statesmen return to action on Saturday, Sept. 16 when they face open up GSC play with West Georgia. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
