This week’s CableOne GoStatesmen.com Female Athlete of the Week is Alondrea Rush of the Lady Statesmen basketball team.
The junior guard helped DSU earn its first victory of the season, when it defeated Christian Brothers 61-58 on Thursday, Nov. 30. Rush scored a game-high 21 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including 5-of-8 from three-point range. She also led the Lady Statesmen with eight rebounds, and four assists.
The Horn Lake, Miss., native nearly led DSU to a come-from-behind victory in a 69-62 loss to Union on Saturday, Dec. 2, as she recorded 22 points, six assists and three rebounds.
Rush finished the week 15-of-26 from the floor, including 8-of-13 from long-range.
The Lady Statesmen are scheduled to return to action on Sunday, Dec. 10 for a non-conference contest against Miles College. TIpoff at Walter Sillers Coliseum is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT.
