Senior golfer Landon Cottrell was named one of GoStatesmen.com's Featured Athletes of the Week, presented by Guaranty Bank, as he won the 28th Derrall Foreman Invitational and helped lead the golf team to a 48-stroke win in the opening tournament of the fall season. 

Cottrell, who was named the Gulf South Conference's men's golfer of the week for his efforts, shot a 12-under-204 to claim the individual title. The Collierville, Tenn., native  fired three consecutive rounds of four-under-68 at the Cleveland Country Club and led the field in Par 3 scoring at 2.80. He was also second in the field in total birdies with 20 between the two days of the tournament. 

Cottrell and the Statesmen are back in action on Monday, Oct. 19 and Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the Matt Dyas Invitational hosted by the University of West Georgia.
