Delta State University Lady Statesmen swimmer Madison Lavoie was named a Guaranty Bank Featured Athlete of the Week after helping lead DSU with three individual event wins over the weekend in a dual swim meet against the University of West Florida. 

The women's swimming and diving team won nine events against the University of West Florida, but fell narrowly 158.00-142.00 on Saturday, Jan. 16 at the Ronald G. Mayers Aquatic Center.

Lavoie turned in a 1:05.29 in the 100-yard breaststroke to take first place and picked up another victory in the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:22.42. She also secured the win in the 200-yard IM with a 2:09.21. She was also a member of the winning 200-yard Medley Relay team, with a time of 1:43.13.

The Lady Statesmen return to action at home on Friday, Jan. 22 and Saturday, Jan. 23 as they host Rhodes College.
