Delta State University softball player Summer Cryder was named a Guaranty Bank Featured Athlete of the Week after she hit .778 (7-for-9) in a weekend series win over the Lee (Tenn.) University Lady Flames in Cleveland, Tenn. over the weekend.
Cryder went 7-for-9 from the plate with a home run, two doubles, four runs scored, four RBI, a pair of walks, and a stolen base while starting all three games at third base for the Lady Statesmen.
The Tupelo, Miss. native and Itawamba Community College product helped the Lady Statesmen to an 8-3 win in extra innings in a game one win as she went 5-for-5 with a home run, two runs and three RBI.
Cryder followed it up by going 2-for-3 in game two and 0-for-1 in game three with two walks and two runs scored.
Delta State returns to the diamond on this week against Henderson State University in the midweek before hosting Union (Tenn.) University on Friday, March 19 at 4 p.m. The weekend series concludes with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 20 beginning at Noon.
