CLEVELAND- For the third time this season, the Delta State University Statesmen scored double-digit runs en route to a 16-4 win over Pace University Friday night at Ferriss Field.
The Statesmen extend their win streak to two games as they improve to 8-9 on the season while the Setters fall to 2-2.
Delta State let the bats fly in the first inning, plating three runs after
Devin Goodwin got things going with a lead-off triple.
Pace answered in the top of the second with three runs of their own, however struggled at the plate the rest of the game.
DSU would score seven runs on just four hits in the second and third innings to take a commanding 10-3 lead capped by a two-run homerun by
Cade Hoggard (4) in the third.
Pace knocked in a run in the fourth, but the margin was too great as Delta State would tack on six more before the final out of the ball game.
