CLEVELAND-Visiting Lyon College used two late goals to defeat the Delta State University Lady Statesmen soccer team 3-0 at Delta Field Wednesday.

The Scots (8-3-0) defense stifled the Lady Statesmen (3-10-1), holding them to only two total shots.

Lyon scored the opening goal in the 34th minute, with a long-range shot from Katie Smith.

Anja Klotzle notched her 10th tally of the season in the 82nd minute with a header off a corner kick from Smith.

Just over two minutes later, Amber Mathieson finished the scoring for the Scots.

Lyon had 18 shots on goal in the contest, with eight of those on target.

The Lady Statesmen will travel to West Florida on Sun. Oct. 17 for a road contest with West Florida.

Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m.
