With four games to go, Statesmen basketball facing stiff competition with SAU and No. 1 ATU this week

The Delta State Statesmen will be aiming to rebound from their second GSC loss when they travel to Southern Arkansas to face the Muleriders on Thursday before returning home to host No. 1 Arkansas Tech on Saturday Tipoff times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday and 6 p.m. on Saturday.

The Statesmen saw their four-game winning streak snapped last Saturday with a 68-55 loss at Christian Brothers. The Statesmen were held to 39 percent shooting while four Buccaneers scored in double-figures. Joe McCray led the Statesmen with 14 points.

Delta State will aim for their second win over the Muleriders this season as the Statesmen defeated Southern Arkansas 83-59 at Sillers Coliseum in January. Roderick Ollie led four Statesmen in double-figures in that game.

When the Statesmen return home Saturday for their rematch with No. 1 Arkansas Tech, they will be joined by thousands of white-clad fans as the Delta State community will try to “White Out” Sillers Coliseum. The Statesmen fell 88-77 to the Wonder Boys in front of a sellout crowd in Russellville when the teams first played.

Both men's games will be featured on Statesmen Sports Network immediately following day's women's basketball contests. Jimmy Smith and J.T. Webb will have the call.
