WINTER PARK, Fla. - Delta State University senior third baseman
Josh Gordon was named to the Daktronics, Inc. All-South Region Second Team on Thursday. The Daktronics All-South Region First and Second Teams are nominated and selected by a vote of the region's Sports Information Directors.
Valdosta State's Brandon Decker was named the Daktronics South Region Player of the Year and Hayden Simpson of Southern Arkansas captured Daktronics South Region Pitcher of the Year honors, it was announced Thursday.
The Gulf South Conference finished with five student-athletes named to First Team All-South Region, led by Southern Arkansas four. The Sunshine State Conference recorded 10 student-athletes from six different institutions to comprise the first team.
Gordon finished the season batting .426 with 10 doubles, 10 home runs and 49 RBIs. In 51 games, Gordon was 83-of-195 at the plate, while scoring a team-high 64 runs and swiping 10-of-11 bases.
He finished the year ranked third in the league in batting and hits. The Vicksburg native's 129 total bases were also tied for fourth.
