BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
West Florida looks to add to its record four-straight GSC Men's Soccer titles after being chosen as the Preseason Champion for the ninth consecutive season.  Delta State was picked to finish sixth.

The Argonauts were unanimous choices as the preseason champions, finishing with 25 points. During the nine-year run as preseason favorites, UWF has won the title five times (2003, 06-09). Christian Brothers were picked behind the Argos for the second consecutive season, earning 21 points. The Bucs finished the season third last year.

Alabama-Huntsville was selected fourth in last season's poll but finished a point behind UWF for the No. 2 seed. The Chargers earned 13 points for third place this year.

Ouachita Baptist and Harding each had 12 points, but the Tigers broke the tie with a second-place vote. OBU was the last-place selection a year ago but made its first-ever trip to the Conference Tournament as the fourth seed. The Bisons were selected to finish third but finished fifth.

Delta State rounded out the voting with seven points while garnering a third-place nod.  The Statesmen finished 2009 with a 3-11-1 overall record and an 0-5 mark in GSC play.

DSU placed four Statesmen on the Top Newcomers Watch List, including defender Cody Ackinclose, forward Eljay Allen, forward Adam Brundle and defender Fraser Pain.
