Alex Amo scored the game winning goal in the 90th minute to give DSU the win
CLEVELAND-The Delta State University Statesmen soccer team used a 90th minute goal from Alex Amo to defeat visiting Lambuth 2-1 on Sunday at Delta Field.

With the win, the Statesmen (1-4) broke a 10 match losing streak that dated back to the 2009 season.

Amo's goal came off a Jacob Stevenback shot that rebounded from LU goalkeeper, Conor Hurley.

Adam Brundle scored his team leading second goal of the season in the 28th minute off an Eljay Allen corner kick, to open the scoring.

Lambuth responded quickly, as Juan Garzon scored in the 33rd minute to tie the contest at one.

The Statesmen saw a bit of light in the 77th minute as they were awarded a penalty kick, but a diving effort from Hurley stopped the Allen attempt.

Delta State will look for their second straight win on Wednesday Sept. 15th as they take on Spring Hill College in the second game of a doubleheader. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
