New Orleans VooDoo sign L.J. Castile

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The New Orleans VooDoo of the Arena Football League announced the signing of former Delta State University wide receiver L.J. Castile on Thursday.  The VooDoo placed veteran receiver James Jordan on injured reserve to make room for Castile.

Castile will see his first action for the VooDoo (2-11) on Saturday, June 25, as New Orleans hosts defending AFL champion Spokane.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at New Orleans Arena.

Castile helped lead the Statesmen to a runner-up finish in the NCAA Division II National Championship game and their third Gulf South Conference title in four years last season.  The University of Houston transfer led the Statesmen with 67 receptions for 900 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound receiver was named first team All-GSC and Daktronics All-South Region while leading the league in touchdown receptions (13).

Castile is the fourth Statesmen to play in the AFL this season, including Ben Stallings (Utah), Bruce McCaleb (Milwaukee) and Jason Donnal (Arizona/Cleveland).
