CLEVELAND, Mississippi – Delta State University women's soccer took on Christian Brothers on a rainy Friday afternoon. The Lady Bucs shutout the Lady Statesmen 4-0 for DSU to fall to 2-8-1 on the year and 0-6-0 in league play.
CBU took an early lead in the 10
th minute of play when Camilla Rodrigues connected with Mariana Tonelli to tilt the score in favor of the visitors, 1-0.
Christian Brothers tallied another goal at the 36:59 mark when Rodrigues assisted another goal to Alex Swanson to close out the half with the score 2-0 in CBU's possession.
The second half opened with more offense from the Red-and-Black, this time with Rodrigues earning her first goal of the game after assisting two, notching the score three goals to none.
CBU's Swanson struck again in the 83
rd minute to give the Lady Bucs the commanding 4-0 lead, enough to take the victory.
Delta State was at a disadvantage in shots 15-8 and shots on goal 9-4.
Tais Cotta led the way with two shots, both on frame, while six different Lady Statesmen recorded one shot in the loss.
The Green-and-White are back in action on Sunday, Oct. 12 against Gulf South Conference opponent Union University. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at Delta Field.
