ROME, Georgia – The Lady Statesmen soccer team of Delta State University took on the Shorter Hawks on Sunday afternoon. Shorter defeated Delta State 3-1.
Three of the four total goals were scored in the opening 19 minutes of play. Shorter came out early with two goals in the 6
th and 10
th minutes to go up 2-0 over the Green-and-White.

Erin Tucker put Delta State within one goal at the 18:07 mark. The score remained 2-1 in favor of SU at the half.
Scoring was at a stalemate until the 70:33 mark when Shorter scored again, putting the score at 3-1 until the final buzzer.
Delta State recorded eight shots, five on frame.
Erin Tucker and
Tabitha Hayden led the way with two shots and one shot on goal each.
Katie Swaine suffered the loss in goal, grabbing 10 saves.
The Lady Statesmen wrap up the regular season with the last four games at home. A matchup with West Florida starts the home stretch on Friday, Oct. 24 at 1:00 p.m.
