RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas - Delta State University (0-2) and Arkansas Tech (2-0) each had three players score in double figures with the Golden Suns earning a 72-61 win over its former Gulf South Conference rival on Friday at Tucker Coliseum.
Seneca Walton led DSU with 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds and
Chelsey Rhodes and
Carly Keller added 11 points apiece.
Fatima Adams led the Golden Suns with 25 points,10 in the first half. Adams made seven-of-14 shot and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Anissa Pounds followed with 13 points and Katrina Hayden chipped in 11 points and had four assists.

Kenisha Henry jumper gave DSU a 48-43 at the 9:17 mark of the second half only to see Arkansas Tech go on a 9-0 run three minutes later to take a 55-50 after two free throws by Pounds. The Golden Suns used a 7-2 run in the final 2:20 to stretch a six-point into the 72-61 final.
Delta State shot 49 percent overall from the field, 27-of-55, and made 11-of-23 shots, 47 percent in the second half. Overall, Tech connected on 24-of-48 attempts, including 55 percent in the second half (13-of-23) and 44 percent in the first half to take a 30-26 halftime lead.
Rhodes led DSU with nine first half points on four-of-eight shooting with a 3-pointer followed by
Anissa Jackson's five points and three rebounds and Walton's five boards with a blocked shot.
Delta State will return to Walter Sillers Coliseum for their home opener against Stillman College on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
