Delta State basketball (14-13, 11-10 GSC) will wrap up regular season play on Thursday, Feb. 26 against the Choctaws of Mississippi College (11-12, 9-12 GSC).

DSU suffered two road losses last week against Shorter and Lee to fall to No. 7 in the GSC standings. This ensures that the Statesmen will be on the road for the opening round of the conference tournament.

The Statesmen will honor two seniors, LaQuavius Cotton and Alister Chisholm, for Senior Day after the completion of their game.

Thursday will also represent White Out for the fans at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

In the first meeting with Mississippi College this season, Delta State came away with a 77-66 win on Jan. 17 at A.E. Wood Coliseum in Clinton.

In the last meeting between the Choctaws and Statesmen at Walter Sillers, Delta State defeated MC 70-63 on Jan. 27, 1996.

Mississippi College had four Choctaws in double figures; Tory Rice with 13, Johnny Rucker and Emmanuel Ezejiofo with 12, and Tristan Moore with 10. MC shot 35.5 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from 3-point range, and 57.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Sophomore Devin Schmidt is averaging 25.5 points per game in the last 13 games, and 21.4 point per game in conference play. He leads the team in scoring with 20.9 points per game.

As a team, Delta State leads the league in three-point percentage (41.7%) and free throw percentage (75.5%) and second in rebounding defense with 31.4 defensive rebounds per game.

Ranking third in the conference, DSU is shooting 48.7 percent from the field and is holding its opponents to a 43.9 shooting percentage.
