HUNTSVILLE, Ala.– Delta State University softball fell 9-1 in the series finale against No. 7 Alabama-Huntsville on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Charger Park.

HOW IT HAPPENEDGame One- Huntsville got the scoring started early in the top of the first inning on a two-run home run from Kaitlyn Bannister, giving UAH the 2-0 advantage.
- The Chargers plated three more runs on three hits and one DSU error in the third to extend their lead to 5-0 over the Lady Statesmen.
- UAH added four more runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth, including a two-run blast from Michal Robertson to notch the score at 9-0.
- The only offense for Delta State came in the fifth inning when Ashley Mrozinski grounded out to first, scoring Katelyn Westbrook. DSU fell by a final 9-1 in five innings.
- Shayna Beaver (5-4) suffered the loss in the circle, pitching 2.1 innings and giving up five earned runs on five hits.
- Kaitlin Moore and Amber Adcock led the offense for the Lady Statesmen, each recording two hits.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE- Delta State stranded eight runners in the series finale with Huntsville.
- UAH marked the fourth top-25 ranked team DSU has faced this season. The Lady Statesmen are now 0-8 against ranked teams.
WHO'S NEXTDSU welcomes the Wolves of West Georgia to University Field next weekend in Gulf South Conference action. The doubleheader will take place on Saturday, March 28 at 3:00 p.m. Game three will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29.
