MAGNOLIA, Arkansas – Southern Arkansas University (29-14) scored eight unanswered runs en route to an 8-1 win over Delta State University (17-14) at Walker Stadium-Goodheart Field on Tuesday.
Landon Thibodeaux led the Statesmen with a double and two singles and
Jonathan Andrews and
Brandon Cummins with a single and a double apiece.

@DSUBaseball HOW IT HAPPENED - The Statesmen grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the third. Jonathan Andrews doubled to lead off the inning and scored on a Brandon Cummins double.
- Southern Arkansas scored two runs in the fourth and six in the fifth to take an 8-1 lead. Justin Buchannan was hit by pitch with the bases loaded and William Townsend drew a bases loaded walk in the fifths. A Carver Rademacher two-run single and a Justin Buchanan sac-fly highlighted the sixth. Two runs came home on a throwing error and another run scored on a wild pitch..
- Landon Thibodeaux had three hits including a double while Jonathan Andrews and Cummings had two hits apiece
- Witt Haggard (1-1) suffered the loss for the Statesmen, allowing two unearned runs on six hits and recorded a season-high six strikeouts.
- SAU starter Colton Strother (3-1) gave up one run on seven hits with a walk and four strikeouts in six innings to earn for the win.
- Hunter Mayo picked up his first save of the season. Mayo pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts and gave up no runs on one hit.
STAT OF THE GAME- Statesmen top five hitters in the batting order were a combined 2-for-18 with one RBI.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE- The one run scored was the lowest run total for the Statesmen since a 3-2 loss against West Georgia (2.28).
- Cummins two hits marked his team-best 19th multi-hit game
- Thibodeaux's three hit outing was his fourth of the season and his sixth multi-hit game.
- Jonathan Andrew posted his fifth multi-hit game.
- Statesmen pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts and seven walks.
