Late Goal Lifts Men's Soccer to Victory Over LSU-Alexandria



CLEVELAND, Miss. – Jaxon Lambert scored the match-winner in the 82nd minute to give the Delta State University men's soccer team a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over LSU-Alexandria on Sunday at Delta Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Bryce Childers scored the opener, his first goal of the season, as he stole the ball from a defender following a deflection and placed it past LSUA keeper Tom Fuller.
  • LSUA tied the contest at one in the 39th minute on a header by Ricardo Calliman, off an assist from Ricardo Alderete.
  • The Generals took the lead one-minute into the second half on a goal by Tom Wakefield.
  • Luke Mason tied the match five minutes later on a penalty kick after Dylan Garrett was tackled in the box.
  • Lambert scored the winner in the 82nd minute when he connected with a cross from Mason. Lambert and Mason are now tied for the team lead with two goals apiece.
 
STAT OF THE GAME:
  • The Statesmen outshot the Generals 14-4, including an 8-2 advantage in the second half.
 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Both DSU victories this season have come in comeback fashion.
