Statesmen Score Four in Victory Over Harding

CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Delta State University men's soccer team scored two goals per half in a 4-2 non-conference victory over Harding University on Tuesday at Delta Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Austin Jackman opened the scoring 86 seconds in, when Harding goalkeeper Thomas Shults failed to collect his corner kick, allowing the ball to cross the line.
  • Jackman scored his second goal of the season in the 33rd minute when he smashed home a rebound, following a well-struck shot by Jaxon Lambert.
  • Harding answered less than six minutes later when Jason Diaz struck a long-range shot into the top of the net.
  • The Statesmen held an 8-5 shots advantage after the first 45 minutes.
  • Nicolas Garrido scored his first collegiate goal in the 48th minute when he connected on a long-effort off an assist from Bryce Childers.
  • Brock Hollier scored his second goal of the season, and DSU's last of the game, with a shot from 20 yards out in the 77th minute.
  • Harding finished the scoring with 44 seconds remaining when Jackson Buchanan placed a shot past DSU keeper Jacob Haunstein.
  • The Statesmen ended the contest with a 17-10 shots advantage, including an 11-4 edge in shots on goal.
