VIERA, Florida – Former Delta State University infielder Edwin Maysonet was announced as an on-field coach for the Milwaukee Brewers affiliate Brevard County Manatees on Thursday.
Maysonet joins the coaching ranks after a 12-year professional playing career that included stints in the Cubs, Astros and Brewers organizations. The Arecibo, Puerto Rico, native reached the majors in 2008 with the Astros and played 30 games for the Brewers in 2012.
The shortstop finished his career hitting .254 with 198 doubles, 24 triples and 365 home runs during his pro career. He hit a memorable grand slam for his second career home run and the first grand slam for the Brewers that season on May 12, 2012. It came against the Cubs in the bottom of the sixth inning, giving the Brewers a 6-1 lead.
