FLORENCE, Ala. – The Delta State women's soccer team couldn't hold on to an early 1-0 lead at halftime and suffered a 3-1 loss to Gulf South Conference rival, the University of North Alabama at Florence, Ala., on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lakyn Cryder gave Delta State a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute of the first half scoring off a direct kick from 30 yards out.
- The Lions came alive in the second half when Kylie Huey scored the equalizer in the 59th minute.
- Margarida Sousa gave the Lions the lead in the 71st minute, scoring UNA's second goal on an assist by Shelby Wall.
- Eleanor Costello scored the final goal of the game less than four minutes later.
- In goal, Oldacre made seven saves and faced 26 shots from the Lions.
- Cryder recoreded DSU's only shot on goal, while Sam Naughton and Catherine Thomson each recorded a shot.
- Huey, Costello and Sousa led the Lions' offense. Huey recorded six shots (three on goal) and scored a goal. Costello had a team-high nine shots, three shots on goal and one goal. Sousa had two shots, one shots on goal and one goal.

- Despite being outshot 12-2, the Lady Statesmen were able to maintain a 1-0 lead in the first half.

- The Lady Statesmen are still seeking their first conference win.
- The loss marks the eighth straight loss for Delta State and 21st consecutive conference loss. The Lady Statesmen have not won a conference game since 2014, when they defeated Union University 2-1.
