LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Delta State women's soccer team suffered its fifth consecutive loss in a 4-0 shutout to the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Ala., on Oct. 2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Tigers struck first in the seventh minute when Natalie Mooney fired a shot past DSU goalkeeper Ella Hunkin from 20 yards out.
- TeMia Pride volleyed the ball in the top right corner of the goal, scoring her fifth goal of the season and increasing West Alabama's lead 2-0 in the 39th minute.
- The Lady Statesmen began to pressure the Tigers' offense at the start of the second half, but Chelsea Commings scored on an assist by Haylee Frank in the 69th minute to increase West Alabama's lead 3-0.
- Pride scored the Tigers' fourth and final goal of the game in the 73rd minute.
- Hunkin suffered the loss in goal. She made nine saves on 20 shots and allowed four goals.
- Issy Foster made three saves in goal for the Tigers and earned her fifth win of the season.
- Taylor Guess, Lakyn Cryder and Traci Monroe each had a shot on goal for the Lady Statesmen.
STAT OF THE GAME:
- West Alabama fired 20 shots (13 on goal) throughout the game, while Delta State took seven shots (three on goal).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- The loss marks the fifth straight loss for the Lady Statesmen and third time the Lady Statesmen have been shutout this season.
- The Lady Statesmen have yet to win a game after being down a goal and are still seeking their first GSC win of the season.
- Hunkin made a career high in saves and faced a career high in shots.
- West Alabama's 20 shots and 13 shots on goal were the second and third most, respectively, the Lady Statesmen have faced from opponents all season.
- Catherine Thomson recorded a shot in today's game and now ties Tabitha Hayden for the team lead in shots with 17.
- Guess is tied for third on the team in shots on goal with 7 and improves to second on the team in shots with 15.
