CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State women's soccer team dropped its sixth straight conference game in a 1-0 loss to the University of West Georgia on Oct. 7, at Delta Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The game remained scoreless throughout the first half.
- Both offenses were were relatively evenly matched, with UWG having a slight edge on shots (6-5) and corner kicks (4-0) heading into halftime.
- The second half proved to be the difference as the Wolves maintained their edge on shots and shots on goal.
- The Wolves finally found a breakthrough in the 67th minute when Katie Mitchell scored on an indirect kick off an assist by Anna Leah Deese to give the Wolves the game-winning goal.
- Taylor Guess led the Lady Statesmen with four shots and two shots on goal followed by Ali Sullivan, who recorded two shots, both on goal.
- In goal for the Lady Statesmen, Emily Oldacre made five saves and faced six shots on goal from the Wolves.
- Wolves' keeper, Morgan Springer, made four saves and faced four shots on goal.
STAT OF THE GAME:
- The Wolves out-shot the Lady Statesmen only 13-11.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Statesmen have yet to win a game after being down a goal and are still seeking their first GSC win of the season.
- The loss marks the sixth straight loss for the Lady Statesmen and 19th consecutive conference loss. The Lady Statesmen have not won a conference game since 2014, when the Lady Statesmen defeated Union University 2-1.
- Despite the loss, Delta State's scoring offense remains third in the GSC.
- Delta State is ranked third in the GSC in points per game with 7.09.
- The Lady Statesmen's 27 goals on the season rank third in the GSC and are 12th nationally.
- Emily Oldacre has made 40 saves this season. She ranks sixth in the GSC in saves per game.
- Guess now leads the team in shots with 19 and moves to second on the team in shots on goal with nine.
