HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Delta State men's soccer team fell to William Carey University 6-1 on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at Crusader Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Johnny Buckle opened the scoring for the Crusaders five minutes into the match from a Paul Bracken assist.
- In the 18th minute, Buckle netted a brace to double the Crusaders' lead with an assist from Joaquin Ruiz Cabello.
- Cabello found the back of net in the 30th minute as he extended the Crusaders' lead to 3-0.
- Cabello opened scoring in the second half with a goal in the 63rd minute with another assist from Bracken.
- Roger Viladomiu scored the Crusaders' fifth goal in the 70th minute with the assist from Mitchell Blair.
- Nicolas Garrido put the Statesmen on the board, scoring in the 79th minute.
- In the 87th minute, Pedro Villar Roldan scored the sixth and final goal of the game with an assist from Steven Gallagher.
- In goal for the Statesmen, Matthew Klinck started the match and faced nine shots, made two saves and allowed three goals.
- Luis Rodriguez came in at halftime and faced six shots, made one save and allowed three goals.
- Crusaders' keeper, Adam Grant, faced 14 shots, made five saves and allowed one goal.
STAT OF THE GAME:
- The Crusaders outshot the Statesmen 9-5 in the first half, but only 6-9 in the second half.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- This marks the fourth meeting between the two schools. The last meeting was in 2007 when the Statesmen won 2-1.
- This marks the fourth straight loss this season for the Statesmen.
- This is also the third match in a row that the Statesmen have allowed five or more goals.
- Garrido scored his first goal of the season.
- Ricardo Filho leads the Statesmen in shots (17) and shots on goal (11).
