CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University men's soccer team claimed its second win of the weekend with a three-goal shutout against Concordia College (Ala.) on Sunday, Oct. 9, at Delta Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Statesmen opened scoring at the start of the second half from a cross by Brock Hollier, and Mikey Rhodes was on the receiving end with an easy tap in.
- Russell Alvarez provided the second goal for the Statesmen in the 59th minute from a loose ball that was crossed in by Rhodes.
- The third and final goal came in the 72nd minute when Andrew Aur's headed ball was saved, but Ashley Walker headed the loose ball to the back of the net.
- Ricardo Filho led the Statesmen with four shots (two on goal), and Hollier had three shots, all on goal.
- Delta State outshot Ouachita Baptist 14-4 in the first half and 10-6 in the second half.
- Jacob Hauenstein recorded his second start of this season and earned a second shutout, making two saves.
- In goal for the Hornets, Wendy Thoby allowed three goals and made 11 saves.
STAT OF THE GAME:
- The Statesmen recorded a season high 24 shots and 14 shots on goal for the match.
BEYOND THE NUMBERS:
- This was the first meeting between the two schools.
- This is the Statesmen's third shutout of the season. The first was in September, when the Statesmen defeated Auburn University at Montgomery 5-0, and the second came this past Friday when the Statesmen beat Ouachita Baptist 1-0.
- Rhodes and Walker claimed their second goal of the season.
- Alvarez recorded his first goal of the season.
