Delta State Football Releases 2017 Schedule

CLEVELAND, Miss. – Delta State University football fans will have six opportunities to watch the Statesmen during 2017 season at Parker Field-McCool Stadium, as the upcoming schedule was officially released on Tuesday, Dec. 27. DSU will play the first three games of the season at home, including the season-opener on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. versus Lone Star Conference rival Tarleton State.

"We're excited about the upcoming schedule," DSU head coach Todd Cooley said. "Matt Jones, our Senior Associate AD, did an outstanding job finishing out the schedule and making sure our fans had the most opportunities to see the Statesmen at home. With our NCAA region getting realigned to include the CIAA, adding Chowan was a huge chance to add some strength of schedule points."

Delta State will face three non-conference opponents in 2017, including TSU and Chowan University at home while playing North Greenville University on the road.

For a second-straight year, the University of West Georgia will serve as the Gulf South Conference opener on Saturday, Sept. 16. This year's matchup will have the added benefit of being DSU's annual "Pig Pickin' Classic" contest. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

Homecoming is set for weekend of Nov. 10-11, as the Statesmen host Florida Tech on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 4 p.m.
