FLORENCE, Ala. – The No. 4 University of North Alabama combined to score 13 runs in the first three innings in a pair of victories over the No. 21 Delta State University softball team on Friday at the UNA Softball Complex. UNA took the opener 7-3, and earned a 9-1 (5) victory in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED:Game 1Â
- UNA opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the first on an RBI single by Brooklyn Clark and a two-RBI double by Anna Gayle Norris.
- After the Lions added one in the second and two in the third, the Lady Statesmen scored their first runs of the game when Morgan Kazerooni smacked her sixth home run of the year, a two run shot to left field.
- UNA responded in the bottom of the inning, when Reagan Tittle hit a solo home run to left.
- DSU scored the final run of the game in the top of the seventh on a fielder's choice by Pepper Baker.
- Taylor Tucker (11-2) allowed six runs on nine hits in three innings. Relief pitcher Taylor Johnson allowed one run on four hits in three innings of relief.
- Hillary Carpenter (17-2) allowed three runs on four hits, with five strikeouts and a walk.
- Clark finished 4-for-4 to lead UNA.
- DSU did not have a player with multiple hits.Â

HOW IT HAPPENEDGame 2Â
- Kassidy Tally gave the Lady Statesmen their only lead of the day in the top of the first when she stole home, after Kaitlin Moore induced a throw to first base by the catcher.
- The Lions plated five runs on five hits in the bottom of the inning, including two doubles. UNA also took advantage of a DSU error.
- UNA tacked on two more in the second on an RBI groundout and a wild pitch.
- The Lions tacked on one run in both the fourth and fifth to seal the victory.
- Three DSU pitchers combined to allow nine earned runs on 12 hits. Katie Justice (7-3) allowed five runs, four earned, on five hits in 0.1 innings of work.
- Raven Cole (16-1) allowed just one hit, a first inning single by Moore.

- DSU was held to just five hits in 12 innings.

BEYOND THE BOXSCOREÂ
- The 9-1 loss by DSU in the nightcap marked the first time since an 8-0 (5) setback to North Alabama at the 2015 GSC Tournament that the Lady Statesmen have been defeated by the mercy rule.
- Until the home run by Kazerooni, DSU had not scored in 12.2 innings.
- The Lady Statesmen have been held to just seven hits over the last 19 innings.
- With her double in the first game, Moore now has 16 this season and 63 in her career, which ranks fourth in GSC history.
