CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Lady Statesmen (21-5) of Delta State University split a doubleheader with the Cotton Blossoms (15-7) of the University of Arkansas-Monticello on Tuesday, March 8 at University Field. DSU won game one, 8-4, behind
Kaitlin Moore's four RBIs, before UAM rallied for the game two victory, 8-3. The loss snapped Delta State's 11-game winning streak and was just the second home loss of the season for the Lady Statesmen.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1)
- The Lady Statesmen plated two runs on one hit in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead on UAM. Kassidy Tally swiped two bases in the frame after reaching on an error. Kaitlin Moore's RBI single to center plated Talley for the first run of the game.
- UAM finally scratched the scoreboard in the top of the fourth, as Ashton Currey scored on McKenzie Rice's RBI single to left.
- Moore (2) and Kazerooni (4) hit back-to-back solo home run in the bottom of the fifth put the Lady Statesmen up 4-1.
- Delta State plated four runs in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead to 8-1. Moore continued her big day at the plate with a two-RBI double down the right field line. Kazerooni drove in Moore with a laser down the left field line for her 13th double of the season. Madison Zoeller's double to left-center plated Kazerooni for the final run of the inning.
- UAM scratched out three runs in the top of the seventh off reliever Taylor Johnson. Kali Bolter's two-RBI double jumpstarted the inning for UAM. Kelbe Callaway closed out the scoring with an RBI single to right. DSU brought in Katie Justice to nail down the win, recording the final out of the game for her first save of the season.
- Taylor Tucker earned her eighth win after throwing 5.2 innings while allowing one run on nine hits with a walk and a strikeout. Kendra Coleman took the loss for UAM after surrendering four runs on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2)
- McKenzie Rice's two-run home run to right-center gave the Cotton Blossoms the early 2-0 lead in the top of the second.
- Kaitlin Moore's RBI double to right allowed Kassidy Tally to score DSU's first run of the game in the bottom of the third. Morgan Kazerooni's single to left tied the game at 2-2, and Madison Zoeller's sac-fly to left gave the Lady Statesmen the 3-2 edge, as Moore came in to score from third.
- Holly Wilmarth's grand slam to right and a pair of error-aided runs allowed UAM to reclaim the lead 8-3 in the top of the fourth inning. The home run was Wilmarth's seventh of the season.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORES- DSU's 8-3 loss in game two snapped an 11-gam winning streak by the Lady Statesmen.
- Senior Kassidy Tally is 35-of-36 in stolen base attempts this season. Her 32 steals are 16 more than the next closest competitor. The Raleigh, Miss., native has 197 career steals, 54 away from the NCAA Division II record of 250 held by North Dakota State's Nikki Flynn-Gregg, who set the record in 285 career games from 1997-2000.
- Delta State is hitting .343 as a team and currently ranks second in the GSC in that category.
- The Lady Statesmen have recorded four straight Gulf South Conference weekend series sweeps.
