CLEVELAND, Miss. – Visiting West Florida earned a pair of shutout victories over the No. 21 Delta State University softball team on Saturday at University Field. UWF used a six run inning in a 9-0 (5) victory in game one, and held on for a 2-0 triumph in the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
GAME ONEÂ
- After DSU stranded a pair of runners in scoring position in the bottom of the first, the visitors opened the scoring on a solo home run by Rachel Wright.
- The Argos exploded for six runs on seven hits in the third, including a grand slam by Wright.
- UWF extended its lead in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Rhiannon Sassman.
- Pinch hitter Jessica Wilkinson gave the Argos the final tally of the contest in the fifth on an RBI single.
- Kayln Chapman (17-5) allowed five hits in five innings, with four strikeouts.
- Taylor Tucker (12-5) allowed six runs on seven hits in 2.1 innings. Katie Justice allowed three runs on six hits in 2.2 innings of relief.
- Kassidy Tally (2-for-3) was the only DSU player with multiple hits.
- Kaitlin Moore's double in the first was the lone extra base hit.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
GAME TWO
- DSU had its best chance of the game in the opening frame, as Moore was on first and Tally third, but the Argos threw out Tally at home on a double steal attempt.
- UWF scored the lone runs of the contest in the top of the third on a two-RBI single by Meghan Toney.
- The Lady Statesmen had just four base runners for the remainder of the contest.
- Becca Taylor (13-5) allowed five hits in seven innings.
- Taylor Johnson (13-6) allowed two runs on six hits in seven innings.
- Moore led the way for DSU with two hits in three trips.

- DSU was held to just 10 hits in 12 innings.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- DSU was shut out in back-to-back contests for the first time this season.
- The Lady Statesmen have been held to a combined 10 hits, or fewer, over two games for just the sixth time this year.
- The doubleheader sweep by UWF marked the first home GSC series loss for DSU, and the second series loss of the season.
- Johnson has allowed five hits or fewer in three of her last four starts.
- With her double in game two, Moore now has 68 for her career.
