CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State women's soccer team dropped its third straight Gulf South Conference game in a 4-0 loss to the Lady Bulldogs of Union University on Sept. 25.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The game remained scoreless until Union found the breakthrough in the 41st minute of the game when Diana Barajas scored on an assist by Austen DeLoach to give Union a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
- Kayleigh Patterson made it 2-0 for the Lady Bulldogs, finding the back of the net in the 48th minute.
- Patterson's header off the crossbar made it 3-0 in favor of Union in the 56th minute.
- Hannah Hilburn scored the final goal of the game less than a minute later. She fired a shot that hit the side post and found its way past DSU keeper Emily Oldacre.
- In goal, Oldacre made eight saves and faced 20 shots from the Lady Bulldogs, while conceding four goals.
- Union goalkeeper, Kristen Francis earned the shutout, facing only eight shots, two of which were on goal.
- Shannon Thomas and Catherine Thomson recorded DSU's only two shots on goal.
- Patterson, Hilburn, and Barajas led the Lady Bulldogs. Patterson scored two goals, took two shots and had two shots on goal. Hilburn fired the most shots in the game (four) and scored a goal, while Barajas had one shot, one shot on goal, and one goal.
STAT OF THE GAME:
- The Lady Bulldogs out shot the Lady Statesmen only 4-3 in the first half and 20-8 in the second half.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- The loss marks the third straight loss for the Lady Statesmen.
- This is the second time the Lady Statesmen have been shut out during the season.
- The Lady Statesmen have yet to win a game after being down a goal.
- The Lady Bulldogs scored a season high of four goals, the most since they last defeated Delta State 4-0 last season.
- Oldacre now has 35 saves this season. She ranks sixth in the GSC in saves per game, averaging five.
UP NEXT: The Lady Statesmen will seek their first GSC win when they travel to Huntsville, Ala., to take on the University of Alabama-Huntsville on Sept. 30. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
