CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State women's basketball team suffered its first home loss of the season, 57-49, to the University of North Alabama on Jan. 12, 2017 at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Lady Statesmen opened the contest scoring the first bucket of the game 53 seconds into play to take an early 2-0 lead.
- The Lions used a 7-0 run to pull ahead of the Lady Statesmen 7-2 in the first quarter.
- With 37 seconds left in the first quarter, Carly Keller gave Delta State back the lead (15-14) making both free throw attempts.
- In the start of the second quarter, DSU went on a 9-4 run to retake the lead over the Lions.
- The lead changed hands four times in the first half, but the Lions held on to a one point lead (27-26) heading into halftime.
- DSU held UNA to 39.1 percent from the field in the first half, while the Lions held the Lady Statesmen to a 36.7 percent. UNA's 17 points in the first quarter made the difference, as both teams tallied only 11 points in the second quarter.
- Delta State started to make a comeback in the start of the third quarter when Alondrea Rush's layup at the 8:52 mark put Delta State back on top 30-29.
- Both teams traded baskets, but UNA made a comeback to lead by three points at the end of the third quarter.
- At the start of the fourth quarter DSU was able to reclaim the lead over the Lions with a layup by Alexis Ross.
- The lead changed four hands more times, but UNA was able to hold an edge over the Lady Statesmen in the final 1:37 of play.
- The Lions gained their largest lead of the game (eight points) with just seven seconds left, which ultimately sealed the win 57-49.
- UNA's Ivy Wallen led all scorers with 25 points.
- Kaelin Kneeland led DSU with 20 points, followed by Aspriona Gilbert (nine points) and Carly Keller (five).
NOTABLES:
- The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for Delta State.
- This marks the Lady Statesmen's first home loss of the season.
- Kneeland was one bucket shy of tying her career high in points.
- Ieysha Mays' 11 rebounds are a new career high.
- Delta State's 49 points were its fourth lowest of the season.
