CLEVELAND, Mississippi – Auburn Montgomery came back from a pair of deficits to defeat the Delta State University women's soccer team 4-2 in Gulf South Conference action, on Friday at Delta Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Delta State struck first, in the 12th minute, when Traci Monroe took a cross from Diana Okechukwu and calmly put it past the goalkeeper.
- Ruby Mendez scored the equalizer for AUM in the 31st minute, as her shot from just inside the box found its way home.
- DSU regained the lead less than one minute late when, Jasmine McGill took a long pass from Cat Buckley and chipped the ball over the keeper from the right side.
- The Lady Statesmen outshout the visitors by a 16-3 margin in the opening half, forcing five saves from AUM keeper Felicia Wester.
- AUM tied the game in the 55th minute when Mendez took advantage of a defensive miscue and put it past a diving Ana Branch.
- The visitors took the lead for good just more than six minutes later when Stine Svaerke took a through ball from Mendez and put a hard shot into the left side of the goal.
- Svaerke put the game away in the 82nd minute when she took a pass from Astrid Nilsson and beat the keeper to the left.
- Morgan Glenn earned the victory in goal for the visitors, as she had one save in the second half. Branch had two stops in the loss.
STAT OF THE GAME:
- After being outshot 16-3 in the first half, AUM outshot the Lady Statesmen 11-6 in the second 45 minutes.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- With her seventh goal of the season, McGill has moved into a tie for fifth in the DSU single season season record book.
- Lakyn Cryder played in the 63rd game of her career, which is fifth in school history.
- The Lady Statesmen remain one victory away from tying the school record for most GSC victories in a season (4).
UP NEXT: The Lady Statesmen are scheduled to host Montevallo on Sunday, Oct. 22, where they will honor nine seniors before the contest. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
