CLEVELAND, Miss. –
Visiting Montevallo scored a goal with just 34 seconds left, but the Delta State University women's soccer team held on for a 2-2 draw, in Gulf South Conference action, on Sunday at Delta Field. DSU honored its nine seniors following the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After Jasmine McGill was hauled down in the box, Team Captain Lakyn Cryder gave her side a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute when she converted a penalty kick by beating the keeper to her right.
- DSU kept the visitors scoreless in the first half, and held a 7-5 advantage in shots.
- The Lady Statesmen doubled the lead in the 68th minute, when Traci Monroe wowed the crowd with a long-range effort from the right side that found the top left corner of the goal. Monroe's goal came off a pass from Shannon Thomas.
- Montevallo started its comeback in the 80th minute, as Taylor Gonzales capitalized on a deflection in the box and put her shot past DSU goalkeeper Ana Branch.
- The Falcons equalized with just 34 seconds remaining, when Kira Bochard followed up a cross that bounced in the box and put the ball in the top left of the goal.
- Montevallo outshot the Lady Statesmen by a combined 4-2 margin in the overtime periods, and held a 24-14 advantage in the game.
- Branch had four saves for DSU, while Sydney Young also had four stops for Montevallo.
STAT OF THE GAME:
- The visitors scored a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes to force overtime.
BEYOND THE NUMBERS:
- Three of Cryder's four goals have come via penalty kick. Her 10 career goals are tied for fifth on DSU's all-time list.
- The draw was DSU's first since an 0-0 contest with LSU-Alexandria on Sept. 13, 2015.
