Cat Buckley scored her first career goal and a late own goal helped the Delta State University women's soccer team claim a 2-1 victory over Hendrix College on a rain soaked pitched on Tuesday at Warrior Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Cat Buckley opened the scoring in the 35th minute, as she headed in a corner kick from Lakyn Cryder. Buckley's goal came on the third of three straight DSU corner kicks.
- Sydney Blevins equalized for the hosts in the 54th minute when her long range effort found the top right of the goal.
- After the first 45 minutes, the Warriors held a 4-3 advantage in shots.
- The Lady Statesmen dominated possesion for the opening 20 minutes of the second half and were rewarded in the 65th minute when a perfect cross by Traci Monroe was headed in for an own goal by Hendrix.
- Hendrix pushed for an equalizer for the last 10 minutes, but were turned away on numerous attempts by DSU goalkeeper Ella Hunkin.
STAT OF THE GAME:
- Hunkin recorded six saves, including four in the second half.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- The goal for Buckley was the first of her collegiate career.
- With her assist on Buckley's goal, Cryder has seven for her career, which ranks third in DSU history.
UP NEXT: The Lady Statesmen hit the road for a two-game Gulf South Conference road trip. DSU faces North Alabama on Friday, Oct. 6, before closing out the weekend on Sunday, Oct. 8 at West Georgia.
