Delta State Places 10 On All-GSC Teams

CLEVELAND, Miss.
-  After finishing the regular season 8-3 overall and 5-3 in Gulf South Conference play and punching its ticket back to the NCAA Division II Football Championship Playoff, Delta State University placed 10 Statesmen on either the First or Second All-GSC teams, as released by the league on Wednesday, Nov. 15.
 
Innis Claud (OG), Ovenson Cledanord (LB), and Jamoral Graham (CB) were named to the All-GSC First Team.
 
Three-time selection Landry Tullo (LB) headlines DSU's All-GSC Second Team selections. He is joined on the squad by Chris Robinson (RB), George Roberts (OL), Brandon Gaddy (DT), Vince Sciorrotta (K), Sam Barge (P), and LaDarion Peterson (RS). Robinson and Roberts were 2016 All-GSC First Team selections.
 
"I'm extremely proud of the effort and work these young men have put in this season," DSU head coach Todd Cooley said. "They're all deserving of this recognition by our league and I am excited that they get to keep representing Delta State this week in the NCAA Division II Football playoffs at Bowie State."
 
PLAYER CAPSULES
Innis Claud (6-0, 290, Soph.) consistently graded as one of DSU's top offensive linemen this year, while helping the Statesmen lead the GSC in rushing (214.3 ypg). The Buford, Ga., native, helped DSU rush for over 200 yards versus six different opponents, including a season-high 394 yards against Chowan.
 
Ovenson Cledanord (6-2, 200, Jr.) wreaked havoc on opposing offenses this year from his outside linebacker spot, recording 76 tackles, 7.5 sacks and 13.0 tackles-for-loss. The Greenacres, Fla., native, is tied for second in the GSC in sacks and TFLs heading into the postseason.  
 
Jamoral Graham (6-0, 175, Sr.) recorded 39 tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, and intercepted three passes during the regular season for DSU. The Decatur, Miss., native, ranks second in the GSC in passes defended with 14.  
 
Landry Tullo (6-1, 225, Sr.) saved his best season as a Statesmen for his senior campaign, as the middle linebacker is second in the league in total tackles and leads DSU with 88 stops. The Hoover, Ala., native, has also tallied 5.0 sacks and 11.0 tackles-for-loss, which both rank in the GSC's top 10. A three-time All-GSC pick, Tullo has amassed 239 tackles in his career at DSU to rank 10th on the school's career tackles chart.
 
Chris Robinson (5-8, 195, Sr.), an AFCA All-America selection a year ago, once again led the GSC in rushing yards (1,079 yards), yards per game (98.1) and scoring (16 TD) this season. The Bude, Miss., native topped 2,000 career yards rushing in a 52-20 win over Florida Tech last week, rushing for 210 yards and four touchdowns. Robinson has amassed 2,055 yards on 400 carries with 33 rushing touchdowns, 40 total touchdowns, moving past David Yeates (1,896) into eighth place on the DSU career rushing list. His 1,079 yards this season are 11th on the school's single season rushing list and he is the first Statesmen to top 1,000 in a season since Trevar Deed in 2011.  He has caught 21 passes for 698 yards and seven touchdowns in 21 games for the Statesmen. Robinson was a finalist for the 2016 Conerly Trophy after establishing a new school and GSC record for touchdowns scored with 24. Robinson led the GSC in rushing, carrying the ball 186 times for 976 yards and 19 touchdowns while catching 37 passes for 551 yards and five touchdowns in 2016.
 
George Roberts (6-7, 341, Sr.) was selected for a second-straight year to the league's postseason honors list. The Lithonia, Ga., native, helped the Statesmen lead the GSC in rushing (214.3 ypg) while DSU rushed for over 200 yards versus six different opponents, including a season-high 394 yards against Chowan. He was a D2CCA All-American in 2016 from his left tackle position.
 
Brandon Gaddy (6-1, 305, Sr.) delivered his best season as a Statesmen while helping DSU lead the GSC in rush defense (98.5 ypg) from his nose guard position. The Jackson, Miss., native, recorded 18 tackles, 4.0 sacks, 6.5 tackles-for-loss and forced two fumbles despite opposing offenses routinely running away from the massive interior lineman.
 
Vince Sciorrotta (5-9, 180, Sr.), a two-time All-GSC selection, became the career scoring leader in the Gulf South Conference by a kicker in his final season as a Statesman. His 323 career points scored broke the record held previously by former Valdosta State kicker Will Rhody (2002-2004), who accumulated 309 points (51 FG/158 PAT). The Gainesville, Ga., native, has connected on 43 career field goals and a GSC record 194 PATs. He ranks second all-time in the GSC record book in scoring overall, trailing only Demarcus Blount (UNA, 382).
 
Sam Barge (5-6, 190, Fr.) quietly proved to be one of DSU's most valuable weapons this season. In 11 games, the Carrollton, Ga., native, punted 72 times for 2,694 yards, while averaging 37.4 yards per attempt. In one of the gaudier statistics of the season, opponents returned 23 Barge punts for a total of 87 yards. He nailed 17 kicks inside the 20-yard line, including a season-long of 57 yards.
 
LaDarion Peterson (5-9, 185, Sr.) was named to the squad as a return specialist after racking-up 805 yards on 34 kick returns this season. The speedster ranked third in the GSC in yards per return (23.7), while his 805 yards sit fourth on the DSU single season charts. He has also rushed for 379 yards and five touchdowns at running back. The Woodville, Miss., native, established a new career Delta State record for kick return yardage this season, amassing 1,657 yards on 65 returns. 's all-time
