OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Lake Superior State Lakers outscored the Delta State University men's basketball team 33-24 in the second half, and 19 points from
Ravion Henry was not enough as the Statesmen fell 61-47 to the Lakers at the Owensboro Sportscenter in Owensboro, Ky. in game one of the Kentucky Wesleyan College Thanksgiving Classic on Friday afternoon.

TURNING POINT:
- After Delta State used a 7-2 run out of the locker room to tie the game at 30, Lake Superior State responded with an 18-3 run that put the Lakers a 48-33 lead that they would not relinquish with 8:39 left to play in the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Lake Superior State shot 45 percent (24-for-53) for the game, and were 7-for-19 from beyond the three-point line (37 percent), while Delta State was just 17-for-48 (35 percent) from the floor and just 4-for-14 (28 percent) from beyond the arc.
- The Statesmen went 9-of-10 from the free throw line, outshooting the Lakers at the stripe. LSSU went just 6-for-15 (40 percent) from the charity stripe.
- The Lakers owned a slim edge on the glass 34-33, and had 15 assists to just six turnovers.
- Delta State turned the ball over 13 times and had nine total assists, their lowest assist total of the season.
- Lake Superior State also held the advantage in second chance points (9-2) and bench points (25-9) for the game.
INSIDE THE FLOW:
- DSU jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the opening minutes of the game, but a pair of Josh Goldschmidt bolstered a 10-5 run for the Lakers who took a 15-10 lead with 8:24 left in the first half.
- Lake Superior State edged Delta State 8-6 over the final three and a half mintues of the first half, including a three-pointer from Goldschmidt and a pair of free throws from Ke'Montrece Collins, to take a 28-23 lead into the halftime intermission.
- The Statesmen used a 7-0 run out of the break to take their first lead since the opening minutes at 30-28 with 16:42 left in the game on a pair of free throws by Ravion Henry.
- Lake Superior State responded with a 20-3 run over the next seven and a half minutes, including a seven point spurt from Akaemji Williams, to take a 48-33 lead at the 9:12 mark of the second half.
- The Statesmen went on an 8-2 run in the last three minutes, but it wasn't enough as the Lakers came away with the 61-47 victory.
NOTABLES:
- Delta State got 19 points from senior guard Ravion Henry, who shot 6-for-12 from the floor including 2-of-4 from three-point range. The Carthage, Miss. native also went 5-for-6 from the free throw line and added three rebounds.
- Junior Armon Benford added six points, six assists and four rebounds for the Statesmen, and junior Brett Warner also added six points for DSU.
- Akaemji Williams led the way for LSSU, tallying 14 points, three rebounds and seven assists on the afternoon.
- Goldschmidt contributed 12 points as the the lone other Laker in double-figures, with all of them coming from beyond the three-point line (4-for-7).
