CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University women's basketball team held visiting Miles College to just 14 first half points in a 60-44 victory, in non-conference action, on Sunday afternoon at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

TURNING POINT:
- DSU held Miles without a field goal for over from the 1:37 mark of the 1st period until Victoria Sutton connected on a jumper with 2:22 left in the half.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Lady Statesmen were 10-of-24 (41.7) from the floor in the first half, while holding Miles to just 4-of-19, including 0-for-5 from three point range. Miles was 6-of-12 from the free throw line in the opening 20 minutes, while DSU was 8-of-10.
- DSU held a commanding 21-12 edge on the boards in the first half, including an 8-5 advantage on the offensive glass.
- Takisha Jordan led DSU with eight first half points, all of which came in the second half, while Simone Jackson added six points and five rebounds. Raven Johnson had seven rebounds in nine minutes for the Lady Statesmen.
- Victoria Sutton had seven points to lead Miles.
- The Lady Statesmen took advantage of 12 first half turnovers by Miles, converting them into 10 points.
- DSU was 11-of-22 in the second half, and finished 21-of-46 (45.7 percent). Miles was 9-of-28 (32.1) in the second half to finish 13-of-47 (27.7 percent), including just 2-of-14 (14.3 percent) from three point range.
- The Lady Statesmen finished the game with a 34-32 edge on the boards, and forced 22 turnovers.
- Miles finished 16-of-25 (64 percent) from the free throw line, while DSU was 14-of-19 (74 percent).
- Alondrea Rush scored 10 third quarter points to lead DSU with 16. Jordan added 14.
- Johnson recorded a game high 10 rebounds.
INSIDE THE FLOW:
- DSU took advantage of a 4-of-5 start from the floor, including a pair of three pointers by Alondrea Rush, to help take a 16-6 lead after the opening frame. Miles was just 2-of-7 with six turnovers in the first quarter.
- The Lady Statesmen kept Miles off the scoreboard from the 1:37 mark in the first quarter until Victoria Sutton hit a pair of free throws with 4:31 left in the half, cutting the DSU lead to 20-8. DSU held the Lady Bears without a field goal for a nine minute span, until Sutton hit a jumper with 2:22 left in the half.
- A buzzer-beater by Takisha Jordan to end the half sent the Lady Statesmen to the locker room with a 30-14 lead.
- DSU kept up its its defensive intensity in the third quarter, holding Miles to just one field goal in 4:58.
- Rush scored 10 of DSU's 15 points in the third, helping the Lady Statesmen keep a 45-30 lead going into the final quarter.
- After DSU took its biggest lead of the game 43-23 with 2:04 left in the the third quarter, Miles answered with a 16-9 spurt to cut DSU's lead to 52-39 with 4:42 left.
- The Lady Statesmen answered with a 7-0 run, pushing the lead to 59-39 with 3:34 left, keeping Miles from within striking distance the rest of the way.
NOTABLES:
- The 10 rebounds for Johnson were a career high.
- Maddy Sheraka connected on a pair of three pointers, which helped give her a career high six points.
- After failing to score more than 53 points in its first five games, DSU has scored over 60 in its last three.
- DSU recorded season high totals in free throws made (14) and attempted (19).
- The 44 points scored by Miles are the fewest the Lady Statesmen have allowed all season.
- Rush is now 13-of-17 from three-point range in the last three contests.
- DSU claimed the second meeting of the season between the two schools, as Miles claimed a 46-41 victory over the Lady Statesmen on Nov. 27.
