CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Delta State University men's basketball team closed out the weekend road trip capturing a vital win against North Alabama. This week, DSU returns home for a five game stretch at Walter Sillers facing West Florida on Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. and then No. 24 Valdosta State on Feb. 4 at 4 p.m.

- Delta State University men's basketball team finished the Gulf South Conference road trip with a 84-79 win against North Alabama on Saturday. The Statesmen improved to 13-6 on the season and fourth in the GSC with a 8-5 record.
- This week, DSU will begin its five game home stand on Thursday with West Florida, who is currently on a two game winning streak and sits fifth in the GSC table with an 8-6 conference record. The Argonauts rank fourth in the GSC scoring an average 82 points per game. They are led by a quad of scoring leaders with Austin Somerfield (13.8 ppg), Deangelo Legrier (12.3 ppg), Jason Laatsch (11.3 ppg) and Rashaan Benson (10.9 ppg) all averaging double digits.
- The series with UWF started in 1995 with Delta State taking the inaugural 92-79 win in Pensacola. Thursday's matchup is the 20th meeting all-time with Delta State owning a 13-6 advantage over the Argonauts. Earlier this season, Delta State fell at West Florida. UWF boast a 5-4 record on the road.
- As a team, the Statesmen average 75.9 points per game, which ranks eighth in the league. On the defensive side of the ball, Delta State rank third in the GSC holding its opponents to an average 71 points per game.
- Senior guard Devin Schmidt is averaging 23.3 points per game which ranks second in the league and 4.4 assists per game to rank fourth. Schmidt has scored 2,315 career points (20.9 ppg), is 43.2 percent (775-of-1792) from the floor and 36.4 percent from three-point range (274-of-753). He needs 254 points to become the GSC's all-time leading scorer.
- The newcomers are making an impact on the floor. Among those, Cedric Harper is averaging 6.6 points and 5.6 boards per game. Harper ranks third in the league averaging 1.7 blocked shots per game.
