Monticello, Arkansas – Freshman
Bailie Springfield pitched a perfect seven innings in game one to lift the Lady Statesmen past the Arkansas-Monticello Blossoms, 1-0, but Delta State fell 4-0 in game two to earn a split with the University of Arkansas at Monticello on Tuesday, March 21, at Blossoms Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- Delta State struck first when Abi Gibson scored on a RBI double to left center by Mari Alex Sandridge.
- The Blossoms tried to make a comeback in the bottom of the first, landing runners at the corners with one out, but a pop up and strikeout ended the threat.
- The rest of the game remained a pitcher's duel. After the first inning, Bailie Springfield did not sacrifice any more hits. Twice she was in a jam, though, as the Blossoms landed runners in scoring position after a leadoff walk in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings, but the freshman right-handed pitcher shut the Blossoms down.
- Springfield (5-2) went the long haul, allowing only two hits in the entire seven innings. She struck out two, walked two, and faced 26 batters.
- Kendra Coleman (10-3) suffered the loss. Coleman allowed one run (earned) on five hits and struck out six.
- McKenzie Rice and Kendra Coleman combined for UAM's only two hits of the game.
- The Lady Statesmen tallied a combined five hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 2
- The game remained scoreless through the first three innings.
- The Lady Statesmen had their best chance of scoring in the top of the fourth when Mari Alex Sandridge reached on a fielder's choice and stole second with two outs. She then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Carah Nunrez drew a two-out walk, and Hannah Salmon, who came on to pinch run for Nunez, stole second. But Madison Zoeller grounded out to end the inning.
- In the bottom of the fourth, UAM took a 1-0 lead when Kendra Coleman blasted one over the left field wall.
- Korie Parker's three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth put UAM up 4-0.
- The Lady Statesmen went through three pitchers throughout the game. Starting pitcher Mari Alex Sandridge (2-5) suffered the loss. She allowed one run (earned) on three hits. In one inning of relief, Taylor Tucker gave up three runs, all earned, on three hits. In 1.2 innings of relief, Taylor Johnson did not give up any runs or hits.
- Kaylee Freeman (2-4) earned the win. In seven innings of work, Freeman sacrificed only three hits.
- Abi Gibson, Zoeller, and Bailie Springfield combined for Delta State's three hits of the game.
