CLEVELAND, Miss. - Delta State University Athletics announced on Thursday, Aug. 17, a new five-year agreement with Under Armour to continue serving as the official apparel provider for the Statesmen and Lady Statesmen. BSN Sports, one of the nation's largest sporting goods distributors, will continue to serve as the agreement's fulfillment partner.
  
"We were the first whole school program at the NCAA Division II level to sign on with Under Armour back in 2014 and our coaches, student-athletes, and staff have enjoyed wearing UA for the last three years," Ronnie Mayers, director of athletics, said. "We are thrilled to have UA/BSN on-board for many years to come."   
 
As part of the partnership, Under Armour will continue to exclusively design and supply the footwear, apparel, training gear and game-day uniforms for all of Delta State's men's and women's varsity athletic teams, coaches, administration, spirit squads, and Statesmen Club members.
 
"Under Armour remains an industry leader in athletic apparel and their commitment to excellence is second to none," Mayers added. "Our coaches and staff are excited to have our brand associated with that of Under Armour and BSN Sports."  
 
The new agreement, which doubles financial incentives from Under Armour/BSN and increases discounts on equipment and training gear for all 13 sports, is the largest in the history of Delta State Athletics.
 
Senior Associate AD Matt Jones spearheaded the research, proposal process and final negotiations for the department.
 
"Under Armour and BSN Sports made it clear just how valuable Delta State Athletics was to them in their renewal proposal," Jones said. "From a sheer financial standpoint, UA made it worthwhile for our department to remain with them for many years to come, but it was BSN's commitment to service that helped close the deal for us in the end."  

 

In the coming weeks, fans will see an assortment of new DSU Athletics apparel available at the Barnes & Noble Jimmy Williams Bookstore and at other local and regional sporting goods outlets across Mississippi.
