Ashley Walker cleaned up a
Tom Bar-Yosef free kick with one minute remaining in the game, and the Delta State University men's soccer team came away with a 1-0 victory over Barry University Thursday night at Jackson Academy in Jackson, Miss.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Tom Bar-Yosef was issued a yellow card just over a minute into the contest, but the Statesmen were able to regroup early on.
- Each defense held their own in the first half, and both sides went into halftime scoreless.
- Barry registered eight first half shots, while Delta State tallied six shots in the same time frame.
- The Bucs had three first half corners, compared to just one for DSU.
- Both defenses continued to dominate in the second half, as neither side could find a break through.
- With just over a minute to play, Barry gave away a free kick and Tom Bar-Yosef lined up to take the free kick for the Statesmen. Bar-Yosef sent the ball into the box just in front of Barry goalkeeper Bo Haug, and Walker cleaned up the rebound to give the Statesmen the late winner.
- Barry tried to create a chance in the closing seconds, but the Statesmen defense held on to finish the shutout.
- The Bucs outshot the Statesmen 15-9 and had four corners to Delta State's three.
BEYOND THE NUMBERS:
- Ashley Walker recorded his 4th career goal in a Statesmen uniform, and scored in the season opener for the second straight season.
- Harvey Stevens recorded his second career clean sheet in goal for the Green-and-White, making five saves.
- Head coach Andy Robertson recorded his second win in four season openers as head coach.
