HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Union jumped out to a 1-0 lead behind the leg of Victoria Lucido, as she took a pass from Olivia Schmitke and slid a shot across the face of goal to give the Lady Bulldogs the early advantage in the 22nd minute.
- Roughly 10 minutes later Delta State got on the board as Lakyn Cryder sent a long ball in to Anoucke Baas, who scored her first of the year to knot the game up at 1-1.
- That mark held until the halftime break, and the two sides went into the locker room looking to capitalize in the second half.
- The Lady Statesmen responded well out of the locker room, as Anoucke Baas scored her second of the match on a deflected ball back toward the top of the 18 yard box, giving DSU a 2-1 lead.
- Senior Lakyn Cryder notched her second goal of the season in the 74th minute, scoring on a free kick from 35 yards out to give the home team a 3-1 lead.
- Union would add a penalty kick from Shelby High in the 75th minute, but DSU held on late for their second conference win in their last four Gulf South Conference outings.
- Ana Branch had four saves in goal for DSU.
STAT OF THE GAME:
- Baas' two goals marks the second time this season that the Lady Statesmen have had a player score two goals in a game, as she joins Jasmine McGill, who accomplished the feat against Shorter.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Delta State's win marks the first time since August 31, 2009 that the Lady Statesmen have come back from down a goal to win a game.
