VALDOSTA, Ga. - Valdosta State outscored the Delta State University men's basketball team 43-34 in the second half and put four players in double-figures as the Blazers outlasted the Statesmen 81-69 on Sunday evening in Gulf South Conference action at The Complex.

TURNING POINT:
- The Valdosta State Blazers used a 16-6 run in the opening six minutes of the second half, and never looked back en route to the thirteen-point victory over Delta State.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Delta State shot 26 of 55 from the field, shooting it at a 47 percent clip for the game. DSU knocked down 8-of-21 from three (38 percent), and 9-for-15 from the free throw line (60 percent).
- The Blazers 27 for 55 (49 percent) from the floor and went 10-of-30 from three-point territory. VSU was 17-of-22 from the free throw line (77 percent) for the contest.
- The Blazers had a 34-25 edge on the glass, and an 11-7 edge in assists as a squad.
- The Statesmen only turned the ball over seven times, while scoring 12 points off of 11 Valdosta State turnovers.
- PJ Davis had 18 points and seven rebounds, and Brett Warner had 15 points and five rebounds. Matthew Wilson added 10 points and three rebounds for DSU.
- Valdosta State got 18 points from Clay Guillozet, 17 points and four assists from Beau Justice, 15 points and five rebounds from KJ James and 13 points from Winston Morgan.
INSIDE THE FLOW:
- Valdosta State and Clay Guillozet sparked the fire early, as Guillozet drained a pair of early three-pointers and a layup to give the Blazers an 8-3 lead in the opening minutes.
- VSU built a seven-point, 32-25 lead at the 3:44 mark of the first half as both teams traded baskets back and forth.
- Delta State closed out the first half on a 10-6 run, however, getting a pair of three-point baskets from Brett Warner, a jumper from Mitch Keller and a layup from Cornelius McIntosh, and the Statesmen trailed 38-35 at the break.
- The Blazers sprinted out on a 16-6 run to start the second half, taking a 54-41 lead at the 13:40 mark of the second half on three-point baskets from four different players.
- VSU would balloon the lead to 15 points with 9:44 to go, but a pair of free throws from PJ Davis would cut it down to nine points, 71-62, on a pair of free throws with 4:54 to play, and an Armon Benford steal and layup made it 73-66 with 2:41 to play.
- That was as close as Delta State would get, however, as late free throws extended the margin back out to the final score of 81-69 as the Blazers knocked off the Green-and-White.
NOTABLES:
- The Statesmen put three players in double-figures for the first time since a win at West Georgia, and the fifth time this season.
- Cornelius McIntosh tied his career-high with nine first-half points. He finished with nine points, one rebound, one assist and one block.

The Statesmen finish out their road trip with a visit to the UWF Field House in Pensacola, Fla. to take on the Argonauts of West Florida. DSU and the Argos will face off at 7:30 p.m.
